Location
Valle Camonica is a land full of history, culture and traditions. Signs from the past are still present and can be found, starting from the prehistoric rock engravings made by the ancient tribes (10,000 BC) up to the trenches from the First World War, passing by the remains of the Roman amphitheatre .
Nature is a fundamental part of our valley, so much so that both sides are part of two different natural reserves: The Stelvio National Park, and the Regional Park of the Adamello. Due to the presence of these two bodies, both flora and fauna have been protected, and have remained undisturbed by man. It is therefore possible to encounter game both during your mountains walks, as well and in the towns themselves.
There are a number of very interesting museums found in the “Alta Valle”:
-The most famous is that of the White War (Temù), which has a collection of objects, and testimonials found, as well as replicas of the environments from the First World War.
-A unique museum is the ethnographic museum “El Züf” (Vione) in which many tools are shown, and the environments are shown of the country life.
-The Adamello Park, found in Vezza d’Oglio, has set up a Natural museum in which you can closely study the different types of flora and fauna, as well as discover the geomorphology of the valley.
-In Ponte di Legno you can find the museum of the Parish Arts, in which you may find furnishings, hand made vestments, chalices, and monstrances from the 17th century.
If you are looking for a vacation in complete tranquility, Valle Camonica allows you to relax, and let go of all stress. Beginning with a walk in the unique towns of Ponte or Temù, you can go to one of the Spa’s, and follow it up with a nice aperitif in one of the numerous bars, and finish up with a dinner to try our local food.
